Hosted by Capilano University's Department of Community Development & Outreach, Family Circle is a free family learning program designed for children aged 2-5 and their family members.

About the Program

Family Circle is an intergenerational family learning program focused on caregiver-child learning together.

  • The program fosters early learning through activities such as games, music, arts and crafts, story time, physical movement, gardening, and nature connection.
  • The program promotes early learning, creativity, emotional development, motor and physical growth,  healthy eating, and overall well-being—guided by Indigenous knowledge, a decolonization approach, and the core values of diversity, inclusion, and food security.
  • Healthy snacks are provided each session and some of the sessions may take place outside in Spring-Summer when the weather improves.

Who can join?

Family Circle is a free weekly program for parents, grandparents, and caregivers of children aged 2 to 5 years.

  • Diversity, inclusion, and multilingualism are fundamental principles of the program, specifically welcoming newcomers to Canada, low-income residents, parents, workers in entry-level jobs, Indigenous people both on- and off-reserve.

Registration

Registration is required, but any family is welcome to join once to see if the program meets their needs before deciding whether to register for the remainder of the sessions.
