Community Meeting RoomIt’s Emergency Preparedness Week, and we are pleased to collaborate with the District of Squamish’s Emergency Program Team, to host an open house.
There will be several booths with information about personal preparedness, FireSmart for your homes this summer as well as information on Squamish evacuation plans. This year we are also pleased to present a booth from the Geological Survey of Canada which will be staffed by volcanologists.
Volcano Explorer: Discover Canada’s Hot Secrets
Shhh… volcanologists from the Geological Survey of Canada are bringing Canada’s hottest secret—did you know Canada has volcanoes? And some are right near you! Come visit our table to see and touch real rocks from Mount Garibaldi and Mount Meager—two of the highest-threat volcanoes in Canada. Explore the different hazards volcanoes can create and learn how to stay safe. Discover what volcanologists do—and even dress up like one!
This is a drop-in event. No registration is required.
